Where to First Spend Money on Home?
Is it more important to first fix the expensive basics of a home, i.e. add foam insulation into walls, add moldings, French doors, remodel kitchen, re-do living room floor with laminate. Or does it make more sense to first get new furniture, dining table, bookcases, etc. and Thank you for answering.
Thank you Sarah. Jesus loves you too!
Oh my goodness, these are some great answers. Thank you all so much. It will be really hard to pick a best answer.
Dear MDV1229- I don't know if you are kidding, but this is a brand new condominium built in 1999, we are one of the original owners. So there shouldn't be any other influences in the home.But- just in case- we pray and practice good karma. & Finally, I am thinking of bringing in a priest to bless our home.
Lastly, I believe that God, Jesus & Mother Mary do love us all.
Thank you all so much for all your helpful answers!!!
Firstly, I would not use laminate flooring. The "grain" that shows on the flooring is really a photographic effect similar to a xerox copy of a piece of paper. Laminate flooring does not really add to the value of the home while hardwood or veneer does add value.
Adding insulation to your walls will not only add value to your home but it will lower your energy costs. Adding "capital improvements" such as French doors, moldings, and remodeling the kitchen will also add value to your home. They will also make your home more comfortable visually as well as making it easier for you to navigate your kitchen while cooking.
As far as the furniture goes, furniture is temporary and does not add value to your home. Also the furniture that you choose before the improvements may be different from the furniture that you choose after you finish the other improvements in your home. For that reason, I would do the furniture and other "decorating" last.
