I can't copy files to a blank CD.?
When i copy files to my cdrw and click on the write files to cd link it goes
to the wizard and when i click on next..... it says, there is no disk in the
drive, please insert a writable cd. Well, i have tried about 4 or 5 brand
new imation CD-R disks and it keeps saying the same thing.
You may get lucky with one of these:
1. Navigate to: LocalComputercomputer configwindows settingssecurity settingslocal policiessecurity options on the right pane, look for: Devices: Restrict CD-Rom Access to Locally Logged on Users. Set this to Disabled. Reboot and try again.
2. Open 'My Computer'. Right click on DVD/CD-R/W drive. Select Properties. Select Recording tab. Make sure 'Enable CD recording on this drive' is checked. Change write speed from 'fastest' to whatever speed your drive is supposed to be. Click Ok.
3. On the same Properties screen you accessed in 2., select Hardware. You should see your CD-R drive by name and type, and in the section under the list the "Device Status" should say "This device is working properly."
If you didn't get lucky, go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129 which is entitled "How to troubleshoot issues that occur when you write data to a CD-R or CD-RW optical disc in Windows XP". Dig in, even if you're not running XP.
Good luck!
